Building Sites ~ Women Build



Women of northern Beaufort County are joining together to actively address substandard housing in our community. The Women Build program challenges women to build a better future for our county’s children as well as a legacy of volunteerism for their own children. Women Build provides a supportive environment for women to learn to build Habitat homes in partnership with families in need.

A steering committee of local women have come together to plan and organize our affiliate’s first Women Build. Led by co-chairs, Trish Dean and Carson Bruce, these creative and enthusiastic volunteers are have raised funds and recruited additional volunteers. In partnership with Lowes, the national underwriter of Women Build, training workshops were conducted to teach skills and build confidence before actual construction begins.

Beginning in 2008, Women Build will be the third house at Prince and Hamar Streets. There’s still time to join in the excitement -- women of all ages and skill levels are needed!
