There are several important ways to support the mission of LowCountry Habitat for Humanity – as a volunteer, as a donor or as part of an organization that sponsors a house. Each of these activities is vital to our mission – we invite you to join us today… Volunteer! Without our volunteers, there would be no LowCountry Habitat for Humanity! Volunteer opportunities exist in every area of our affiliate’s operation – there is a need for all types of abilities and skill levels. We are using a new system to help us keep track of our volunteers and our projects. Please click the "Volunteer Up" link above. That will take you to our calendar. There, you can look at all of our volunteer opportunities. Before you can sign-up for a day, you will have to register. Go to Login (upper left-hand corner) and begin the process. It takes about 5 minutes. If you represent a group, and not everyone in your group wishes to work through Volunteer UP, we can sign your group up as a team (we just need a name!), and then, one person can be designated for your group to handle the sign-ups. That person would sign-in and then add the rest of your group as ‘guests’. They would be the contact point if there are any changes to the day. On the day of the program, please have your volunteers sign in at the jobsite and hand in their waivers (if they haven’t done so already). If you would like a Habitat staff member to speak with your group about volunteer opportunities, please call Brenda Dooley, Executive Director, at 522-3500. Donate! Donations of land, funds and materials/services are the lifeblood of each Habitat affiliate. All of these resources are raised locally; direct financial support does not come from Habitat International. Instead, our local affiliate tithes 10% of all undesignated funds to Habitat International, so houses can be built in developing countries around the world. We are delighted that our affiliate has contributed funding for building six homes in Zambia and nine homes in Nicaragua. Churches, businesses, organizations and residential communities in our area are encouraged to sponsor a house by raising funds for building materials and contributing volunteer labor to the build.
